Jaideep Sarkar appointed as High Commissioner to South Africa

Jaideep Sarkar appointed as India's High Commissioner to South Africa Diplomat Jaideep Sarkar was appointed as India's High Commissioner to South Africa. His appointment was made by the Union External Affairs Ministry. He is expected to take up the assignment shortly. 

Sarkar is a 1987-batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer. He is currently serving as India's ambassador in Bhutan. Prior to this, Sarkar was India's Ambassador to Israel from October 2012 to January 2016. He has also served in Indian Missions in Tokyo, Seoul and Bangladesh. Sarkar worked in the Union Ministry of Finance during 1992-1996, dealing with economic relations with European Union member countries. In 2004, Sarkar joined the Prime Minister's Office as a Director and dealt with a number of ministries including the MEA, Finance and Planning. 
 
India’s Ambassador to Lebanon The Union External Affairs Ministry also appointed Suhel Ajaz Khan as the Ambassador to Lebanon. Khan is presently serving as India's Deputy Chief of Mission in Saudi Arabia.

INS Kolkata, Shakti to participate in IFR in China;- Current Affairs

Story 1: INS Kolkata, INS Shakti to participate in IFR in China The Indian Navy will participate in International Fleet Review (IFR) that is scheduled to take place on April 21, 2019 in Qingdao, China as part of 70th Anniversary celebrations of People's Liberation Army Navy (PLA Navy). 
The Indian Navy would be represented in the IFR by indigenously built stealth guided missile destroyer INS Kolkata and fleet support ship INS Shakti. 

The visit of Indian Navy’s most potent destroyer and versatile fleet support ship showcases India’s proficiency, reach and sustainability in addition to indigenous ship building capability. 

 The harbour stay of these Indian Navy Ships (INS) will be marked by interaction between personnel of participating navies, various dignitaries of PLA and Government officials. The PLA personnel and local population will be allowed to visit these ships to witness Indian Navy’s prowess and India’s ship building capability.

 The Naval Parade will be reviewed by the Chinese President Xi Jinping on April 23, 2019. What is International Fleet Review (IFR)? The International Fleet Review is a parade of naval ships, aircraft and submarines. 

The IFR is organised by nations to promote goodwill, strengthen cooperation and showcase their organisational capabilities. The IFR serves as an ideal platform for world’s navies to showcase their expertise and indigenous ship designing and ship building capabilities in the international arena. India conducted the IFR in February 2016 that saw overwhelming participation of 50 navies with nearly 100 warships. 

 INS Kolkata & INS Shakti INS Kolkata is equipped with state-of-the-art weapons and sensors to address threats in all dimensions of naval warfare, while INS Shakti is one of the largest tankers that can transport over 27000 tonnes and is capable of carrying 15,000 tonnes of liquid cargo and over 500 tonnes of solid cargo.

India’s longest ropeway project over sea to connecting Mumbai with the Elephanta Caves

🔮India’s longest ropeway project connecting Mumbai with the Elephanta Caves will soon clear the final hurdle.

🔮The initiative is to be executed by the Mumbai Port Trust, under the Ministry of Shipping.
The 8-km ropeway will begin from Sewri in Mumbai’s east coast and end at Raigad district’s Elephanta Island.

🔮The Elephanta caves, located on the Elephanta Islands, off Mumbai, was declared a world heritage site by UNESCO in 1987, due to which clearance will have to be taken from Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), besides the Indian Navy, Coast Guard and the Ministry of Environment.

Isro chandrayaan 2 mission information

Chandra yaan 2 :

चंद्रयान 2 भारतीय चंद्र मिशन है जो पूरी हिम्‍मत से चाँद के दक्षिणी ध्रुव क्षेत्र में उतरेगा जहां अभी तक कोई देश नहीं पहुंचा है - यानी कि चंद्रमा का दक्षिणी ध्रुवीय क्षेत्र। इसका मकसद, चंद्रमा के प्रति जानकारी जुटाना और ऐसी खोज करना जिनसे भारत के साथ ही पूरी मानवता को फायदा होगा। इन परीक्षणों और अनुभवों के आधार पर ही भावी चंद्र अभियानों की तैयारी में जरूरी बड़े बदलाव लाना है, ताकि आने वाले दौर के चंद्र अभियानों में अपनाई जाने वाली नई टेक्‍नॉलोजी तय करने में मदद मिले.

चंद्रयान-2 भारत का चंद्रमा पर दूसरा मिशन है, यह भारत का अब तक का सबसे मुश्किल मिशन है। यह 2008 में लांच किये गए मिशन चंद्रयान का उन्नत संस्करण है। चंद्रयान मिशन ने केवल चन्द्रमा की परिक्रमा की थी, परन्तु चंद्रयान-2 मिशन में चंद्रमा की सतह पर एक रोवर भी उतारा जायेगा.

चंद्रयान-2 22 जुलाई 2019 दोपहर 2.43 बजे श्रीहरिकोटा (आंध्रप्रदेश) के सतीश धवन अंतरिक्ष केंद्र से लॉन्च हुआ। प्रक्षेपण के 17 मिनट बाद ही यान सफलतापूर्वक पृथ्वी की कक्षा में पहुंच गया।
इस मिशन के सभी हिस्से इसरो ने स्वदेश रूप से भारत में ही बनाये हैं, इसमें ऑर्बिटर, लैंडर(विक्रम) व रोवर(प्रज्ञान) शामिल है।

चंद्रयान-2 को GSLV Mk III से लांच किया जायेगा। यह इसरो का ऐसा पहला अंतर्ग्रहीय मिशन है, जिसमे इसरो किसी अन्य खगोलीय पिंड पर रोवर उतारेगा। चंद्रयान-2 विक्रम लैंडर और प्रज्ञान रोवर का उपयोग करेगा जो दो गड्ढों- मंज़िनस सी और सिमपेलियस एन के बीच वाले मैदान में लगभग 70° दक्षिणी अक्षांश पर सफलतापूर्वक लैंडिंग का प्रयास करेगा.

6 पहिये वाला रोवर चंद्रमा की सतह पर भ्रमण करके मिट्टी व चट्टान के नमूने इकठ्ठा करेगा, इससे चन्द्रमा की भू-पर्पटी, खनिज पदार्थ तथा हाइड्रॉक्सिल और जल-बर्फ के चिन्ह के बारे में जानकारी मिलने की सम्भावना है.

चन्द्रमा की सतह पर सॉफ्ट-लैंडिंग करना इस मिशन का सबसे कठिन हिस्सा होगा, अब तक केवल अमेरिका, रूस और चीन ही यह कारनामा कर पाए हैं। इजराइल का स्पेसक्राफ्ट चन्द्रमा पर क्रेश हो गया था।

GSLV Mk-III भारत का अब तक का सबसे शक्तिशाली लॉन्चर है, और इसे पूरी तरह से देश में ही निर्मित किया गया है।

ऑर्बिटर, चंद्रमा की सतह का निरीक्षण करेगा और पृथ्वी तथा चंद्रयान 2 के लैंडर - विक्रम के बीच संकेत रिले करेगा।

लैंडर विक्रम को चंद्रमा की सतह पर भारत की पहली सफल लैंडिंग के लिए डिज़ाइन किया गया है।
